DSI Studio License for Commercial Entities
Using DSI Studio or its source code in commercial entities requires a paid annual licensing fee, granting a license for one year from the purchase date.

Important Notes
The commercial license is valid for one year from the purchase date and governed by a separate licensing agreement, listed below. This license does not cover third-party tools, resources, or patents, including FSL plugins, atlases (each atlas has its own license or usage agreement), and patent-protected algorithms.
DSI Studio Copyright License Agreement (the “Agreement”)
Fang-Cheng Yeh, hereinafter referred to as "Licensor";
WHEREAS, Licensor is the sole and exclusive owner of the copyright and intellectual property rights in and to the DSI Studio source code, located at github/frankyeh/DSI-Studio and github/frankyeh/TIPL (the "Source Code"), and the executable files ("DSI Studio") compiled from the Source Code; and
WHEREAS, Licensee desires to obtain a non-exclusive license to use DSI Studio and the Source Code, subject to the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement.
1. AGREEMENT
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants contained herein, the parties agree as follows:
1.1 DSI Studio License. Licensor grants Licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable software license, valid for one year from the Effective Date, to use DSI Studio. The license excludes any supplementary components mentioned in Section 1.3 Restrictions.
1.2 Source Code License: Licensor grants Licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable copyright of the Source Code. This license includes the right for Licensee to use the Source Code in their software. Licensee may redistribute the Source Code, provided that the redistributed Source Code retains its non-commercial use license agreement (https://github.com/frankyeh/DSI-Studio/blob/master/LICENSE).
1.3 Restrictions: The Licensee acknowledges that:
The software package dsi_studio.zip or dsi_studio.app, available for download from the official DSI Studio website at https://dsi-studio.labsolver.org/, contains third-party atlases or plugins subject to copyrights and/or patents, as listed in Appendix 1. The Source Code implements functions subject to third-party patents, as listed in Appendix 2.
If the Licensee wishes to use these components, they agree to obtain any necessary licenses independently. This Agreement does not grant any rights to patents, patent applications, trademarks, copyrights, or other intellectual property rights, except as explicitly stated in this Agreement.
1.4 Limited Medical Device Use. Licensee acknowledges that DSI Studio is designed primarily as a research and educational tool for visualizing and analyzing medical imaging data (Appendix 3). It is not intended for direct use in patient diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decision-making. If users intend to utilize DSI Studio as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) for diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical purposes, they must, at their own expense, obtain the necessary regulatory clearances and approvals from the FDA. This includes seeking any required Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals, where applicable, to ensure full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
2. PAYMENT
2.1 Annual Payment. Licensee agrees to pay an annual license fee of $4,388 to Licensor, granting a license for one year from the purchase date.
2.2 Renewal. The license may be renewed for additional one-year periods upon payment of the non-refundable renewal fee, which shall be identical to the initial fee of the first year. The renewed expiration date for each subsequent year shall be one year from the expiration date of the current term. If the payment is delayed more than three months from the expiration date of the current license term, a new license will be required, and the fee may be subject to updates.
3. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
All rights, title, and interest in and to DSI Studio and the Source Code, including all intellectual property rights therein, remain exclusively with Fang-Cheng Yeh. Licensee acknowledges that this Agreement confers no ownership rights or rights to any patents, trademarks associated with DSI Studio, except as expressly granted herein.
4. WARRANTY DISCLAIMER
DSI STUDIO AND THE SOURCE CODE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. LICENSOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE DSI STUDIO AND THE SOURCE CODE WILL MEET LICENSEE'S REQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF DSI STUDIO AND THE SOURCE CODE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
IN NO EVENT SHALL LICENSOR OR FANG-CHENG YEH BE LIABLE TO LICENSEE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF DSI STUDIO AND THE SOURCE CODE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, EVEN IF LICENSOR OR FANG-CHENG YEH HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
6. Indemnification
Licensee agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DSI Studio and Fang-Cheng Yeh from and against any claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
(a) Licensee's intentional infringement of third-party intellectual property rights;
(b) Any modifications to DSI Studio or the Source Code made by Licensee or on Licensee's behalf that cause harm or security vulnerabilities;
(c) Licensee's failure to comply with this Agreement, including any breach of Licensee's obligations or warranties;
(d) Any use of DSI Studio or the Source Code by Licensee in a manner outside the intended use listed in Appendix 3.
7. TERM AND TERMINATION
7.1 Effective Date. This Agreement shall become effective as of the date stated at the beginning of this Agreement, irrespective of the date of receipt of the annual payment by Licensor.
7.2 Termination. Either party may terminate this Agreement with immediate effect by providing written notice to the other party. If the renewal fee is not paid more than three months from the expiration date of the current license term, the license shall be automatically terminated. In the event of termination, Licensee shall cease using DSI Studio and the Source Code in its possession.
8. GENERAL PROVISIONS
8.1 Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
8.2 Entire Agreement. This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersedes all prior agreements, negotiations, and discussions, whether oral or written.
8.3 Severability. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue to be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8.4 Waiver. The failure of either party to enforce any provision of this Agreement shall not be deemed a waiver of such provision or any other provision hereof.
8.5 Assignment. Licensee may not assign or transfer any of its rights or obligations under this Agreement without the prior written consent of Licensor.
8.6 Notices. Any notices or communications required or permitted to be given under this Agreement shall be in writing and may be sent by email to the addresses provided by each party.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have executed this Agreement, including DSI Studio and the Source Code licenses, as of the Effective Date.
